Here’s Why Fresno State University Professor Randa Jarrar Needs to be Fired

leave a comment »

Ben Shapiro wrote an article yesterday which appeared on The Daily Wire in which he argued against the firing of Fresno State Professor Randa Jarrar. For those of you who still may not have heard of her- Randa Jarrar posted comments on her Twitter account which stated the following:

“Barbara Bush was a generous and smart and amazing racist who, along with her husband, raised a war criminal. F**k outta here with your nice words.”

“I’m happy the witch is dead. can’t wait for the rest of her family to fall to their demise the way 1.5 million iraqis have. byyyeeeeeee.” (sic)

Jarrar then cited her tenure and taunted Fresno State University tweeting that, “I will never be fired.”

Then, for whatever insane reason known only to her, Jarrar tweeted the phone number to the Arizona State University’s suicide prevention hotline which resulted in the line becoming overloaded.

Shapiro’s article compares Jarrar to Marvin Pickering, an Illinois teacher who wrote a letter to a local paper criticizing the school board for its mishandling of funds. He was fired by the Board Of Ed and sued to get his job back. The case against Pickering was initially heard in Illinois State Supreme Court who ruled in favor of the Board of Ed. The case was eventually heard in US Supreme Court who subsequently ruled in favor of Pickering.

Justice White concurred in part and stated that,

“The Court holds that, truthful statements by a school teacher critical of the school board are within the ambit of the First Amendment. So also are false statements innocently or negligently made. The State may not fire the teacher for making either unless, ….. there are special circumstances, not present in this case…….”

To compare Jarrar to Pickering is wrong. Pickering wrote a letter in an attempt to bring to light improprieties he felt were being committed by the school board regarding the misuse of funds. His accusations were found to be not “recklessly” false.

Jarrar on the other hand posted malicious comments about an individual who had recently passed away who was incapable of defending herself and the allegations made against her.

Jarrar is not, as Shapiro may believe, speaking on controversial issues. Jarrar’s “speech” is not part of a debate on dissenting opinions and goes beyond the scope of freedom of expression. She appears to be completely unhinged and her comments are completely disrespectful and unbecoming of a professional woman.

Jarrar chose to involve Fresno State University by mentioning them in her comments. Had she not, than we wouldn’t be having this discussion.

Fresno State University should have every right to fire Randa Jarrar should they so choose. If Jarrar’s comments diminish the “brand” of Fresno State University then Fresno State University should have the ability to take whatever action they need to repair their reputation. It seems we have reached a point in time where people believe their right to “free speech” should come without consequence and at the expense of others. Freedom of speech does and should have limits.

This is not a case of a teacher or professor speaking on controversial topics nor is it about a difference of opinion. This is a case of what appears to be a mentally disturbed individual making absurd comments while identifying herself as an employee of a university that she says can take no action against her. Fresno State University should distance themselves from her and restore the faith in both their students and alumni and show that they expect their employees to act in a professional manner.

Free College in New York State…….Well Not Really

leave a comment »

New York is set to become the first state in the union to offer free college tuition. Thanks to socialist governor Andrew Cuomo, tuition at state and city colleges will now be free to those students who come from families making less than $100k per year.  The threshold will rise to $125,000 per year in three years.

It’s been reported that upwards of 940,000 families will benefit as a result.

So let’s think about this for a minute. If the average family has 2.4 children – that means 2,256,000 children can ultimately take advantage of this “free” tuition.

If they all decide to go to a state school and the average tuition cost is $6470/year, the total cost per year for all these children will be over $14 billion.

At the end of four years – this free tuition will cost over $58 billion per family.

$58 billion.

So please explain to me how this is “free” tuition.
Are the professors no longer getting paid and now volunteering their time?  Are the utility companies now providing free gas and electric to the schools? Are the security officers now working for free?

You see free does not mean free unless of course you’re Andrew Cuomo or Bernie Sanders. Then free means free – just as long other people are going to be paying for it.

Idiots of the Day

All those parents in Northhampton Massachusetts as well as the school board who put an end to “High Five Friday’s” with local police officers.

What began as a way to strengthen relations between police and students was turned into controversy by parents who believed that a police presence would be detrimental to some of the children.

Wait.

What?????

Only in America – and then only in liberal communities like Northampton- would police welcoming children to school cause controversy.

Seems many of these parents expressed concern that “kids of color” (their words,) undocumented children and any child that had a negative experience with the police, could be adversely affected by the police presence.

Where have we gone in this country that this thought is considered normal and is actually put into practice so much so that this program to strengthen relations with the police had to be cancelled.

I would bet my last dollar that those parents of the students who were killed at Columbine and Sandy Hook wish there were police officers at the school on those tragic days.

We need to stop this.

So please – next time some liberal says something completely off the wall – don’t argue, don’t debate. Just look at them and say “you’re an idiot.

But then again, you really can’t fix stupid.

Idiot of the Week

leave a comment »

Earlier this week, it was reported that a nine year old boy was suspended from a Texas elementary school for threatening to make another student disappear with a magic ring. The boys parents believe that he got the idea after watching The Hobbit movie.
Apparently Roxanne Greer, principal of Kermit Elementary School and other school officials believed the threat was real enough to suspend the boy for making a “terroristic threat.”
I attempted to get a comment (and find out if the ring was in fact real) from school officials.
A gentleman who answered the phone at the school (no name was provided) informed me that “due to Texas law, the school was not allowed to discuss a student with anyone but the students parents or guardian.”
I asked why a student would be suspended for threatening to make another student disappear with a ring that, for all intents and purposes, does not exist. The gentleman informed me that that was not the only reason why the student was suspended and that “I should not believe everything that is reported in the news.”
When I asked him to clarify, he again cited privacy issues.
I asked if it was true, as the boys parents were reporting, that the boy had also been suspended for bringing a children’s encyclopedia to school and calling another student black?
The gentleman informed me that the boys parents could say whatever they want to the press but it was not true. When I asked for clarification, he again cited privacy issues and stated that this was between the boy, his parents and the school.
He was unable to comprehend, as I explained to him, that this was not merely an issue between the boy, his parents and the school but an issue that impacts all society. When those charged with the responsibility of educating and shaping young minds exercise such illogical behavior, society as a whole must deal with the consequences.
Principal Roxanne Greer has no business being around children. She should be fired immediately, as should all those who made the mistake of hiring her.

When we hire, appoint, promote and elect based on ethnicity and gender rather than the qualification and ability of the person, the consequences will always be dire.

Education Does Not Cure Ignorance

leave a comment »

Judge Shira Scheindlin has proven that all the education in the world can not cure ignorance. It’s too bad that Cornell and Columbia University did not offer any classes in common sense. Her ruling against the NYPD’s Stop and Frisk program will benefit no one except the criminal.
It’s of no surprise that at least three of her previous rulings have been overturned on appeals.

Judges such as Scheindlin and Nicholas Garaufis, who ruled that the NYC Fire Department test was biased, have proven that they are more concerned with grabbing headlines and making a name for themselves than doing what’s right for the people of this country. Both need to be censured.
Both have demonstrated through their rulings why judges should not be seated for life but should serve for a specific term.

(Both Scheindlin and Garaufis were appointed by President Clinton.)

Fire the Teacher Rather Than Suspended a Six Year Old Student

with 2 comments

A six year old student at Park Elementary School in Maryland has been suspended for shaping a pastry into what a teacher believed was a gun.
Really?
That teacher should be fired and never allowed to teach again for lacking any common sense.
He or she is obviously unfit to supervise children.
